Have you ever had hiccups? In Mouse Adventures: Home is Where the Heart is by K.C. Murphy, it is not a human with the hiccups but a mouse. He tries desperately to get rid of them while trying to avoid being detected. He scurries around the house trying to find places to hide while avoiding the cat. He tries drinking water from the faucet in hopes of getting rid of his hiccups, with no luck. Eventually the inevitable happens and he wakes up the people in the house. What is making that noise? What will their reaction be when they discover the furry little guy? Here is a hint; there is a happy ending.
K.C. Murphy has a written a cute rhyming story about a loveable little mouse. The illustrations by Dmitry Chizhov are very kid-friendly and enhance the story. This furry little fellow has big eyes and an expressive face which drew me into the story immediately. I love reading stories to kids that include sounds because it encourages kids to join in. They will love hiccupping along with this little mouse! Kids will relate to the mouse and his dilemma about getting rid of the hiccups because they have all been there. Not only is Mouse Adventures: Home is Where the Heart is a charming story about a mouse, but it has a great message about welcoming others. We can look forward to hearing more about this spunky little mouse because this is the first in a planned series of Mouse Adventures.
