Moo and Bark is a children’s picture book written by Pam Obi and illustrated by YoungJu Kim. The cold wind blows over W.A.B Farm but Moo, a star-gazing cow, won't let winter stop him from counting all the stars! But his star gazing will have to wait till after he returns from a delivery run to the pond where a herd of cows has gathered for a meeting. Moo hurries on down to the pond, but in his haste, he is startled by Bark, the farm dog, and loses his footing, sliding down the hill. Bark feels bad and helps his friend back on the trail and tags along. Together they head for the pond, but will the elder cows accept the pair’s friendship? Join Moo and Bark in a story of friendship and family.
Moo and Bark has a well-structured plot that does not drag out scenes unnecessarily. Pam Obi knew what she wanted her story to be about and she conveyed that in her quick-paced tale about the importance of friendship. Having multiple morals to impart in her story was a nice touch too. YoungJu Kim’s illustrations definitely made the experience even better as they have warmth. The colors in each image were amazing, especially those of the night starry sky, and I could tell that they were designed with love. Overall, this is a fun story that has a few good messages for young readers.
