Miss Rosie is a little baby alpaca. When she was born, her mother didn’t have enough milk to feed her and Miss Rosie had weak legs that worked like noodles. With her human mother’s help, Momma Q, Miss Rosie managed to thrive and prosper. Momma Q wrapped her legs in braces to give Miss Rosie support; she kept her in a special room in the human house; and she fed her goat’s milk from a bottle five times a day. Gradually Miss Rosie grew stronger and bigger and she was reunited with her barn family. By the time she was a year old, she could run and cavort as well as the rest of the alpaca herd. But she still had a soft spot for her Momma Q.
Author Kim Q., Miss Rosie’s Momma Q, has written a delightful story about Miss Rosie’s first year of life. Miss Rosie’s Miraculous Journey is a heartwarming story of a tiny alpaca born with malformed legs, causing her to face uncertain challenges. The story is told in first person, from Miss Rosie’s perspective, and, coupled with the fantastic illustrations, this story will charm readers of all ages as well as teach them about alpacas, the power of love and the courage to overcome all odds. As Miss Rosie’s story unfolds, one can’t help but chuckle at the little baby alpaca’s exploits and her typically childish tricks to get more attention from her Momma Q. This is more than just another animal story; it’s a beautiful story that readers will cherish for years to come.
