Misfits, Mystics, Love & Life is an emotive collection of poetry for all ages, penned by author Raminder Bajwa. The collection is intended to provide a glorious escape to its readers through the intensity of human feeling and emotion, sweeping them away to another sensation altogether. Centered on the most powerful themes of love, pain, identity, nationality and sometimes the power of shame, the collection is written in a variety of verse and rhyme patterns as well as free verse. There are more than 100 poems grouped by various themes, including a section on America’s recent past and some of the terrorist tragedies which have befallen them.

What I enjoyed most about the poetic work of Raminder Bajwa was the variation in rhythm and how it changed so appropriately for the emotion of each particular poem. These works are really powerful when read out loud, with excellent pacing, word selection, and punctuation that times out a beat and emphasizes just the right parts at the right moment. The section on Gods & Angels was probably my favourite, particularly The Puppet Master and Master of Illusion, which interweave their themes with strong descriptive imagery and interesting concepts to think about after reading. If you’re seeking an immersive and large collection of poetry which consistently entertains and lifts you up, no matter how many works you read, then Bajwa’s honest, emotive yet ultimately motivating works will suit you very well. Overall, Misfits, Mystics, Love & Life is a triumph of poetry that all fans of the genre will enjoy.

Misfits, Mystics, Love and Life by Raminder Bajwa is a book of poems about love and life. It’s about loving not just a spouse or significant other, but also about country, friends, and God. Raminder Bajwa uses rhyme and rhythm to show his love and to explain life. He also shares quotes from other poets as well. I should give you a trigger warning; he does talk about death and it has some swear words. It’s a quick relaxing read, however, that will make you think about things.

Misfits, Mystics, Love and Life is beautifully written. I admit the title was a bit confusing but it has a wonderfully relaxing cadence to it. I know some readers are put off by swear words, but I liked the fact he wasn’t afraid to use them when necessary. Raminder Bajwa did a wonderful job with “painting” a scene. I loved the Dungeons and Dragons poem the best; the concept was intriguing (yes, I played it). I liked that it was a fast read, though it didn’t look like it would be, yet the rhythm moved you right along. It’s a good collection for pondering on life and love. Another poem I liked was the motorcycle one; something you wouldn’t think about when it comes to love. Some of the rhymings seemed a bit off, but for the most part, it is a beautifully written collection of poetry.

Misfits, Mystics, Love & Life by Raminder Bajwa is a collection of poems that cover a wide range of subjects. The author reflects on the beauty and challenges of American society and evokes themes of war and patriotism in some of the poems. In some, he speaks about what it is like to be truly human and explores the sentiments of love, acceptance, growth, and purpose. Some of the poems are just moments in the poet’s life that capture the thrill of being human, the ecstasy of love and the values of humanity. The spirituality of the poet resonates powerfully through the poems, asking questions and reflecting on themes such as God and the angels, capturing the relationship between the human and the divine in verses that are captivating.

I have had the honor of reading some of Bajwa’s poems in Enlightenment and enjoyed his deceptively simple style of writing. The poet isn’t afraid to explore a new style of writing and is not enslaved by the rules. Each poem is succinct, composed of short lines that create a fast rhythm and rhymes that add music to the craft. There is a conversational style of writing that reinforces the intimacy in the experiences the author describes. For instance, talking about the love that could have been possible, the poet writes:

“I couldn’t even make you mine…
You, who were the very world, near yet far!
And you couldn’t see my honorable intentions.
Who do I blame? A fault in my stars.”

Readers are invited to reflect on universal themes like love and justice and peace, caught in the primordial struggle between good and evil in a world where terror can quickly break the rhythm of life and usher in an atmosphere of fear. The poet takes the side of the righteous and wonders if “the good in the world / perhaps just balances the bad.” Misfits, Mystics, Love & Life is a gorgeous offering that entertains readers and reminds them of the beauty of their humanity.

Misfits, Mystics, Love & Life by Raminder Bajwa is a poetry collection by Raminder on love, life, and spirituality. In this book, Raminder starts off with a quick preface and then a table of introduction that neatly classifies the poems into various categories. Under each category - which include topics such as American Triumphs and Tragedies, Love, Friendships, Life, Gods and Angels, Misfits and Mystics - there are several varieties of poems pertaining to these categories. Each poem is fairly short with most averaging a page or two at most.

I quite enjoyed reading Misfits, Mystics, Love & Life by Raminder Bajwa and one thing I really liked about the collection is the sheer quantity of poems on such a variety of topics. Often, poetry books tend to be short and it is a nice change to read a poetry book that contains a large number of poems. Raminder’s poetic style is lyrical and meaningful and it is really suitable for the poems on philosophy or metaphysics that we find at the end of the book. In fact, the Misfits and Mystics section was by far my favorite. Some of my favorite ones include Monk’s Secret Knowledge, The Wizard of the East, Enlightenment, My Last Journey, and of course the poem in the title itself called Misfits and Mystics which is a great piece of work. The poems evoke a sense of spirituality and other-worldliness and conjure up images of renunciates, yogis, seers, and philosophers of the world. This is a nice collection for poetry lovers.

Misfits, Mystics, Love & Life by Raminder Bajwa is a collection of poetry that would appeal most to a diverse audience of poetry lovers of all ages who wish to find themselves swept away by their emotions. Each poem is an expression of the spirit that is designed to resonate with readers’ own life experiences and emotions. The poems are organized into the following sections: American triumphs and tragedies, love, friendships, gods and angels, and life, misfits and mystics. Each section is filled with poems of a similar theme, yet each poem is written on a unique topic. Are you ready to awaken your spirit, embrace your emotions, and find yourself journeying through the ups and downs of life?

Misfits, Mystics, Love & Life by Raminder Bajwa is a well-written collection of poems with a beautiful cover image that is the perfect match for the words within this collection. I liked the way the author organized the poems into sections based on a common theme as it provides organization to the collection while still allowing the poems to follow naturally from one page to the next. I enjoyed this collection so much that I actually ended up with three favorite poems instead of just one. My favorite poems were I Apologize, Tell Me, and Sometimes. While I felt like each poem touched something inside me, it was these three that I truly found myself embracing both emotionally and spiritually as they just really resonated with me. Overall, this is a beautifully written collection that showcases the author’s ability to fit words with emotions and I hope the author decides to write another such collection in the future!

The collection is divided into various categories namely: American Triumphs and Tragedies, Love, Friendships, Gods & Angels, Life, Misfits, and Mystics. In the first category of poems, the poet portrays a deep sense of patriotism recognizing the cost of American freedom and those who have fought to protect liberty. The section titled Love explores romantic relationships in an emotive way as it captures the highs and lows of romantic love. Other categories ponder on life in general, exploring human nature and how it changes over time while also providing hope and encouragement in some instances, such as in the poem “Believe.”

Raminder Bajwa’s collection, Misfits, Mystics, Love & Life, offers wisdom in its verses that exude experience of life’s tragedies and happy moments. Misfits, Mystics, Love & Life by Raminder Bajwa is an expansive compilation of the author's poetry. The book is divided into six distinct sections: American Triumphs & Tragedies, Love, Friendships, Gods & Angels, Life, and Misfits & Mystics. The emphasis on the American spirit, resilience, and living is a strong theme throughout, and as a US expat reader who has lived outside the States for nearly a decade now, even the sections that aren't titled as such still weave a faint threading of red, white, and blue. The poems are written mostly as free-verse with shifting stanzas that move between couplets, tercets, and even quatrains, sometimes even within the same poem. All have an element of rhyme to them, although its application on any given stanza can be variable.

There's no question that the words that fill each poem in Misfits, Mystics, Love & Life pour directly from the heart of its author, Raminder Bajwa. That is the beauty of poetry. It is the deeply personal experience of the writer and readers are able to connect to bits of it when they run parallel to their own. Some of the poems are simple and straightforward (such as The Floods in Texas) and some are longer and slightly more complex (Like a God). My favorite is A Dreamer Poet, which felt the most authentic and fluid with stanzas that state: “My love is boundless, heartfelt and forever; My poetry up front, straight, and real; My promises for you, stamped with a seal.” I enjoyed Bajwa's work and am sure it will be appreciated equally by those who are fortunate enough to read it.

I do not pretend to be the best person to review a collection of poetry. My first love is the story. I have loved them since I was a child. I can’t say I love all poetry but some of it moves me and moves me deeply. That is the case with Misfits, Mystics, Love and Life by Raminder Bajwa. It moved me deeply and I liked it a lot. In a way, it is a story or, more accurately, maybe a journey, something of a fantastic voyage through life. This is the kind of poetry I can relate to. It is powerful and it evokes a strong emotional response from me. It is also insightful and it caused me to reflect on decisions I have made and things I have experienced. For me, that is the very best that I can expect from a collection of poetry. A treasured remembrance of captured moments.

The primary strength of Misfits, Mystics, Love and Life is that it explores moments that are vitally important in every human life. Raminder Bajwa encourages us to embrace life and love. There is no more urgent message than that in anything that has ever been written. I really appreciated the first segment of this collection, American Triumphs and Tragedies. I have been in a patriotic as well political mood recently as the next presidential election approaches and poems like A Salute and A Higher Cause made me think about my military service and what it really accomplished. I love books that make me think. It’s even better when they can make me feel too.

Some poetry does not get much beyond the personal world of the writer, but the verses which Raminder Bajwa includes in his Misfits, Mystics, Love and Life collection possess a certain general appeal. In 106 short poems, he opens a vision of the common man, from his admirations and rejoicings to his uncertainties and determinations; “My poetry upfront, straight and real…” Bajwa declares. And real it is, both in its content and expression, dealing at some length with a certain hesitant self-doubt in love, balanced by patriotic fervor and the joy of motor-bike riding.

Perhaps this poet stays too closely attached to reality. He has a slightly frustrating knack of hovering on the edge of a universal revelation but his use of catch-phrases and the vernacular idiom keeps his ideas grounded in the commonplace world. He tends to avoid technical devices such as imagery and ambiguity, and the door to the deeper poetic experience stands only ajar. However, Raminder Bajwa’s Misfits, Mystics, Love and Life is worth reading. He takes the affairs of ordinary life and presents them in short but fully-rounded verse. There is whimsy, yearning, admonition, honest reflection, and overall there is the keen eye and experience of the human condition which marks a true poet. These poems may not lead the spirit to the heights of universal truths, but they present an individual’s understanding of ordinary human existence and offer a certain attractive consolation to those who experience it.

While the human race is submerged in their own lives and their personal journey to find their true purpose, they sometimes fail to notice the injustices of war, segregation in society, and hatred between one another. This captivating collection - Misfits, Mystics, Love & Life by Raminder Bajwa - will tackle the sensitive subjects of war, terrorism and the intolerances and cruelty we show one another because of deemed differences. Through our perceived differences, however, there are also shared experiences of giving and receiving love, friendship, seeking acceptance and the heartbreak of losing loved ones. To evoke thought and gain awareness into the mindset of humanity we must first ask meaningful questions. Through a deeper understanding of the root causes of our beliefs and actions, it must surely result in a positive change in our behavior, thoughts, and outlook on the world. Most of all it shines a light into our souls that encourages to ask ourselves important and meaningful questions.

Misfits, Mystics, Love & Life by Raminder Bajwa is a truly profound collection of poetry that will touch your heart and enlighten your soul. These vividly descriptive poems can certainly pack a punch in just a few well-chosen words. He clearly has a good grasp of human nature and encourages us, through his poetry, to ask important questions regarding love, religion and the damage we are causing to each other and ourselves by the choices we make. I found Insane World especially heartwrenching as it explores the meaningless loss of life caused by military action: 'Since he’s a soldier, he couldn’t ask why, Away from his family, to grow up or die?

There are many poems which advocate love and understanding between the human race and mutual respect for one another, which is perfectly outlined in Humans, 'Made of the same sand, dust, and smoke, Yet continue to squabble about matters holy. Live in their social strata by area and region'. I also thought Bajwa tackled the subjects of natural disasters, poverty and inequality in quite a clever manner. The poems are filled with a sense of morality and spirituality, which encourages love, friendship and appreciation. A superb collection from a very astute poet.
