I liked that it was a fast read, though it didn’t look like it would be, yet the rhythm moved you right along. It’s a good collection for pondering on life and love. Another poem I liked was the motorcycle one; something you wouldn’t think about when it comes to love. Some of the rhymings seemed a bit off, but for the most part, it is a beautifully written collection of poetry.

Some of my favorite ones include Monk’s Secret Knowledge, The Wizard of the East, Enlightenment, My Last Journey, and of course the poem in the title itself called Misfits and Mystics which is a great piece of work. The poems evoke a sense of spirituality and other-worldliness and conjure up images of renunciates, yogis, seers, and philosophers of the world. This is a nice collection for poetry lovers.

I enjoyed this collection so much that I actually ended up with three favorite poems instead of just one. My favorite poems were I Apologize, Tell Me, and Sometimes. While I felt like each poem touched something inside me, it was these three that I truly found myself embracing both emotionally and spiritually as they just really resonated with me. Overall, this is a beautifully written collection that showcases the author’s ability to fit words with emotions and I hope the author decides to write another such collection in the future!

I do not pretend to be the best person to review a collection of poetry. My first love is the story. I have loved them since I was a child. I can’t say I love all poetry but some of it moves me and moves me deeply. That is the case with Misfits, Mystics, Love and Life by Raminder Bajwa. It moved me deeply and I liked it a lot. In a way, it is a story or, more accurately, maybe a journey, something of a fantastic voyage through life. This is the kind of poetry I can relate to. It is powerful and it evokes a strong emotional response from me. It is also insightful and it caused me to reflect on decisions I have made and things I have experienced. For me, that is the very best that I can expect from a collection of poetry. A treasured remembrance of captured moments.

There is no more urgent message than that in anything that has ever been written. I really appreciated the first segment of this collection, American Triumphs and Tragedies. I have been in a patriotic as well political mood recently as the next presidential election approaches and poems like A Salute and A Higher Cause made me think about my military service and what it really accomplished. I love books that make me think. It’s even better when they can make me feel too.

There is whimsy, yearning, admonition, honest reflection, and overall there is the keen eye and experience of the human condition which marks a true poet. These poems may not lead the spirit to the heights of universal truths, but they present an individual’s understanding of ordinary human existence and offer a certain attractive consolation to those who experience it.

I found Insane World especially heartwrenching as it explores the meaningless loss of life caused by military action: 'Since he’s a soldier, he couldn’t ask why, Away from his family, to grow up or die?

There are many poems which advocate love and understanding between the human race and mutual respect for one another, which is perfectly outlined in Humans, 'Made of the same sand, dust, and smoke, Yet continue to squabble about matters holy. Live in their social strata by area and region'. I also thought Bajwa tackled the subjects of natural disasters, poverty and inequality in quite a clever manner. The poems are filled with a sense of morality and spirituality, which encourages love, friendship and appreciation. A superb collection from a very astute poet.
