Mika's Quest for the Lost Artifact: A Magical Hunt Through the Streets of San Francisco by Cat Fan is about an imaginative and perceptive girl called Mika. With her unicorn companion Polo, Mika travels through a magical world. She embarks on a quest that demonstrates how passionate she is about the past. The journey takes her to remarkable places like the Palace of Fine Arts and other important historical buildings. She meets fascinating people along the way, such as the Angel of Ancient treasures. Mika and Polo fly across San Francisco from Golden Gate Park. They must find the hidden clues that will lead them along the treasure trail. First, they must find a king. He turns out to be surprisingly different from what she expected, but that is all part of the fun.
Mika's Quest for the Lost Artifact by Cat Fan is a fun, playful adventure that any inquiring mind will enjoy reading. The illustrations are attractive, showing the escapades of the young Mika beautifully. Who does not love a unicorn? I especially enjoyed looking at the colorful and detailed depictions of the historical buildings. The dialogue is easy to follow, especially as Mika deciphers the meaning of each clue she successfully uncovers along the way. The clues are wonderfully arranged and are highlighted for young explorers to capture their imagination. I recommend this book as it will provide an escape on a journey that is both entertaining and interesting. Parents will enjoy reading this story to their children.
