What do plastic bottles, fishing lines, fishing nets, and other non-biodegradable items have in common? They destroy the environment and endanger wildlife. Suzanne Jacobs Lipshaw shares this danger in Mighty Mahi. One day a person was walking along the beach in Florida and spied a sea turtle tangled in a fishing line, dying on the beach. The ranger was informed, and then the Georgia Sea Turtle Center came to the rescue. Mahi was nursed back to health by a veterinarian at the center. This book is Mahi’s story. Written for children, Mighty Mahi introduces children to the danger of pollution and ways that even children can help in the fight to save the environment. This thrilling account will make the young reader worried about Mahi but then cheer the sea turtle on as he returns to his natural habitat.
Caring for the environment is everyone’s job. Being a conservationist does not have an age requirement. All that is needed is some concern and a desire to help. Mighty Mahi was written to encourage children to join the crusade to protect and save the environment and its wildlife. Mahi was a sea turtle that almost died due to pollution. Read this book with your children and together become involved in the effort to change the future one project at a time. Even if you don’t live near the ocean, you can become involved in saving sea life. Your child’s donation added to others becomes thousands of dollars to help the environment. Mighty Mahi by Suzanne Jacobs Lipshaw will inspire children to become involved and develop a life-long conservation habit. Along with the story, Suzanne includes interesting facts about sea turtles.
