Metaphase: Beauty in the Chaos by M Street took me by surprise. Metaphase is the second novel in M Street’s Mitosis series. In this installment, readers are given a flashback to Piper’s literal infancy and, soon afterward, it picks up where the first novel left off. Piper is dealing with the fact that her brother, Eli, murdered their mother. All the while, she is also dealing with the fact that she isn’t just a normal young woman. She is, in fact, the Guardian Princess of the mature world. A world of auras, colors, beauty, destruction, and power.

I don’t think I have read a young adult paranormal novel that has kept my interest or attention for so long. The thing I noticed when reading this book was that no matter how long a break I took between chapters, I could still easily pick it up and remember where I left off. Street doesn’t lose the plot in between words; in fact, Street does a wonderful job with the flow of the novel. Street’s prose was deliciously woven and romantic. Despite the fact that Piper has to deal with very fantastical situations, she is still very relatable and, as a reader, I appreciate the fact that Street created a relatable and compelling main character. All teens, whether they’re young men or women, have gone through a shift of responsibilities that can be daunting. My aura was glowing brightly as I read Metaphase. I also thoroughly enjoyed the colorful and vivid illustrations. I recommend this novel for young adults looking for a unique take on the paranormal genre. Metaphase: Beauty in the Chaos by M Street is truly one of a kind.

Metaphase: Beauty in the Chaos - Mitosis Series Book 2 by M. Street is the story of a young woman who suddenly had the responsibility of a nation on her shoulders when her crazy brother killed her mother. Although on the surface it is a YA novel that most teenagers and Young Adult fiction enthusiasts will enjoy, on the other, we have the story of a struggling young woman who is fighting to make her mark in this world and make sense of it. Piper’s struggle felt real and the way she was fighting for what was right and just was remarkable.

Piper knew that her world would be in turmoil once more when she found out that her power-crazy brother, Eli, had killed their mother. Now with her mother dead, she is the Guardian of her people and she is the only one who can save the world from the clutches of her sick brother. However, it is not easy because she is finding it hard to hone her own skills. She needs to find out how she can strengthen her skills and become more powerful to fight Eli and his people before they destroy the world as everyone knows it. Can she do it? Or will the world perish because she was not able to understand herself in time?

This is a fun, quick read, very enjoyable and well-written. I enjoyed reading about Piper and how she handled her struggles to rise above all and discover herself at the same time. It wasn’t superficial, it wasn’t dragged out and it wasn’t taken lightly. While the focus of the story was on finding a solution in time to help Piper strengthen her skills, the story also focused on how she could learn to trust herself, her abilities and enjoy being true to herself. This was brilliantly executed and I loved it.

Fourth book in the Mitosis series, Beauty in the Chaos by M Street is a beautifully imagined and well-written fantasy with a strong appeal to fans of the paranormal, featuring compelling characters and a villain that I liked. Piper Walker’s mother, the Queen, is murdered by the self-proclaimed Prince, Eli, her brother. Piper becomes Guardian princess with a lot of responsibility on her hands and a lot to learn. It is her mission to restore balance to the mature world and, unless she creates that unity, the world will remain threatened by the darkness of her brother’s tyrannical rule. While she builds up a support team and gets help from friends, her mentor, and Dev, her love, her brother has his own nasty plans. And to make matters worse, Eli has a spy in Piper’s inner circle of collaborators. If she can’t uncover the mole, all her plans are doomed, and the clock is ticking.

This novel is ingeniously plotted and it features a strong conflict, managed expertly, with compelling characters that readers will want to follow. We are introduced to two siblings pitted against each other, and while the rightful princess struggles to unite the different peoples of the mature realm, her brother lures those hungry for power into his Arbitri court. It’s easy to like Piper, a young princess who has to learn fast and develop her skills quickly. She has emotional depth and I enjoyed the way she is developed and the curve she takes in the story, with her confidence growing as she faces new challenges.

M Street weaves engaging and plot-driven dialogues throughout the narrative and features prose that is exciting and enjoyable. Beauty in the Chaos transports readers to a world where the struggle for power is real and where the war between good and evil rages. The author has what it takes to hold the attention of readers, introducing suspense skillfully and writing scenes that are focused and engaging. It is a gripping read!

Metaphase: Beauty in the Chaos is the second entry in the Mitosis Series by M Street and a beautiful meld of young adult and the paranormal, a story that develops around a phenomenal conflict between two siblings turned arch-enemies. Piper Walker’s mother, the Queen, is murdered by her tyrannical brother, Eli, and Piper becomes the Guardian of the mature world, a new status that comes with the responsibility of uniting the world and ending her brother’s rule of tyranny. While she gets a lot of support from allies, her true love, Dev, and experienced mentors, she is far from beating her brother in a game he knows so well. With a traitor from within, Eli and his gang of the Arbitri are always ahead of her. Can she uncover the mole and finally establish her place in the mature world?

Metaphase: Beauty in the Chaos is a beautiful tale for fans of fantasy and the paranormal, a story set against the backdrop of a parallel universe with characters that can manipulate energy and gravity. The reader is plunged into an exotic and beautifully imagined world where the proverbial struggle between good and evil takes place. Eli is a self-professed Prince who, out of greed for power, murders his own mother. Now his sister must protect what is known as the mature world against her biological brother. The writing is atmospheric and relationships between characters are well established and explored together with the growing conflict. Readers will get acquainted with neologisms that enrich the story and realities that are strange but constructed in a world that is oddly familiar. M Street’s characters are strong, relatable, and compelling. The story has solid plot lines, great pacing, and a huge potential for entertainment. I read it straight through the night, drawn in by the first person narrative from the perspective of the protagonist. Metaphase is arresting and hypnotic.

Metaphase: Beauty In The Chaos is a young adult paranormal novel by author M. Street, and the second book in the Mitosis Series. In book one, Prophase, our heroine Piper Walker was a high school senior who discovered her own secret origin and a destiny that lay waiting for her in another world. Juggling between her nerdy teenage life and her newfound paranormal powers, Piper’s life is now thrown into total turmoil as book two begins. When her mother is murdered by Piper’s own brother, Eli, she takes on the role of guardian and must find a way to bring unity to the other world she cares about. And, although she has friends and a true love by her side, betrayal and danger still lurk around every corner.

Metaphase: Beauty In The Chaos is a delightful read suitable for younger readers in the YA age bracket because of its action/adventure and good versus evil themes. Though the overall plot is simplistic in nature, it’s extremely well created, and Piper in particular is a relatable and untypical heroine that all readers will be able to get behind. M. Street writes with confidence and definitely has a flair for description when describing far off fantasy worlds. The supporting cast of heroes and villains that surrounds Piper is brought to life with great attention to detail. Overall, I’d recommend Metaphase: Beauty In The Chaos to any young teen reader searching for a story of strength, escape, adventure and magic with a strong character-led plot.
