Menu for Murder: A Jayne Stanford Mystery Book 1 is a lighthearted romantic mystery that will make you smile and have a hard time putting it down. Jayne is the main character. Her innocence and tendency to jump right into every situation without thinking it through make her charming, scary, sometimes kind of dumb, but always likable. When Jayne waitresses for the town mayor, her life changes dramatically in many ways. She is the prime suspect in the mayor’s murder and realizes that she must solve the crime herself and find the real murderer. Jayne is helped along the way by her good friends, Bailey and Emmett, and meets Jonas, who quickly becomes the romantic hero. Jayne finds herself in jail, a witness to another murder, the target of someone driving a big black Hummer trying to harm her, her apartment is broken into and more!
Menu for Murder: A Jayne Stanford Mystery Book 1 by L. A. Keller is not the usual mystery murder with a twisting and turning plot; it is more about the story of Jayne and the trouble she can get herself into. If you are a fan of the many Stephanie Plum books by Janet Evanovich, then this is a must, must, must-read. There are no graphic sex scenes, no real violence, but plenty of naive, sweet Jayne in a mystery that needs solving. I found Menu for Murder to be a good book and I am looking forward to Book 2. L. A. Keller is a gifted author and I hope that she will write many successful 'cozy menu' books in the future.
