Did my parents influence me? Of course. Did my church influence my way of thinking? Of course. Those around us influence us. Our family, friends, teachers, and co-workers all affect how what we think.
We can add to this advertising, television shows, politics, and books. Bob Gebelein strives to make us aware of the pollution flooding our minds. Gebelein continues his book by encouraging readers to examine their society. There are legal laws and social laws. Do social laws prevent us from expressing our own view?
While I recognize the point Gebelein is making, I do not totally agree with him. Of course, those in our lives influence us. He makes it sound as though that is not good. I thank God that my family and Sunday School teacher influenced me. Gebelein professes a Christian faith; however, I do not see where he has demonstrated that faith. The Mental Environment is written in a crisp manner. The Mental Environment is a book you will want to ponder.
