May Snow is an unusual look into the minds of four senior ladies and the man they decide to share. Rose, Grace and Charity have been friends since childhood, and June is the new friend who has recently moved to town. They set up a very stringent set of rules and each woman has a scheduled time to spend with Anson, the town's most eligible widowed senior man. It starts out as a great plan. Each of the ladies is no longer lonely and having to deal with life without their deceased husbands and married children. The plan works fine until Rose wants more time than she was allotted. Anson also has chosen one of the women as his favorite and is willing to break the rules to spend extra time with her. The jealousy quickly spreads to anger and no longer do Grace, Charity, Rose and June enjoy the time they usually spent together. The mystery comes in when Anson dies and Rose is convinced that he was murdered by one of the other three ladies.
I enjoyed the story and felt as though this could really happen. Dottie Rexford created the main characters to be very believable and the minor ones each had an important role to fill in this mystery love story. May Snow is a testimony to seniors; their thoughts, their friendships, their problems and their joys. I enjoyed reading May Snow and found it a refreshing change of pace from the normal whodunit mystery. Dottie Rexford should be commended for writing something new and different, and very entertaining.
