Maxwell is a delightful story! Author Jeremy C. Gredone came up with an unexpected and sweet little tale jam-packed with ideas and creativity. The illustrator, D. Sherene Ouffutt, filled the pages with joyful color and exciting details that will keep children enthralled. The premise is something most of us have encountered at some point or another - noticing a spider web on our car when we drive to work or school one morning. The wind rushing through the web tears it apart, but the resilient eight-legged little creature survives to rebuild his web again for the next day. The father and his children come up with a slew of unique ideas of why the spider continues to live on the mirror of the car and travel to and fro with them each day. The tale continues and remains a part of this little family’s story for years and years.

Without a doubt, Maxwell is well-written and creative enough to keep the attention of parents, teachers, and their young readers for hours. It has a plethora of creative ideas inside as to what the little spider might be doing or why he chooses to travel with them. Jeremy C. Gredone even includes a page in the story for young readers to insert their idea of what Maxwell might be doing or why he travels with the family day in and day out. In the end, there is a powerful message included in the story. It’s a sort of “read between the lines” concept. There's more than just a moral to the story. It gives the young readers something to reflect on within themselves. Excellent!
