D.M. Cherubim is an award-winning journalist whose stories have ranged from interviews with U.S. presidents to Disneyland tourists dressed like Mickey Mouse. In 2003, she became deathly ill and stopped writing.
In 2005, while in a medically induced coma, Cherubim “redlined” in a hospital bed. She found herself floating above her body, and had an experience of God in a bright light. He put her back in her body, and she woke up three days later, after doctors “pulled the plug.” With two collapsed lungs and her muscles sagging off her bones, Cherubim listened quietly as the doctors gave her less than three months to live.
Deep down, she knew from her experience with God that the doctors were wrong. Unable to walk and barely able to talk, Cherubim struggled back to life. Miraculously, she has now both gotten on a horse and written her first book to rave reviews.
Cherubim has been working on her books from some of the most inspiring and spiritual places in the world, including southern California, Hawaii, and now, south Florida.

"Mary Baker and the Eye of the Tiger" by D.M. Cherubim tells the story of little Mary Baker aged 10. Mary lives with her mean and very abusive mother, Anna. For Mary, this usually means that she sometimes gets hit and slapped by her mother, and at other times she is locked in her bedroom closet at least twice a week. Mary has come to learn that she is not loved or even wanted, but being a very resilient little girl, Mary always manages to persevere. Then one day, Mary's life changes in the blink of an eye. Her grandpa Hal comes to visit Mary and lets her know that she is loved despite the cruel treatment that she receives from her mother Anna. Shortly after that Mary inherits a vast fortune from her grandpa Hal after he passes away. No longer ruled by Anna’s iron fist, Mary is chosen to go to grandpa Hal’s old private school, The White Light Center for the New Gnosticism. She inherits all of his property, including the lucrative apple farm, and many of his very precious stones. One stone that is given to Mary is known as The Eye of the Tiger. This precious stone is very special in many ways. Mary Baker’s life is never the same after she learns the mystery surrounding the stone and with help from her new-found friends, she has a magical journey of a lifetime.
The book "Mary Baker and the Eye of the Tiger" by D.M. Cherubim is a children’s fantasy book that fuses magic throughout the story. Magic, some religion, and gratitude to a higher power are what make the story rare and intriguing. I loved reading about how special Mary was, despite her childhood traumas in the hands of the very selfish mother Anna. I feel that D.M. Cherubim writes about Mary’s unfortunate abuse situation in such a straightforward manner that it genuinely grasps the reader’s attention. In addition, although the character of Mary Baker is fictional, she could be any child, anywhere in U.S.A. D.M. Cherubim makes Mary Baker’s character strong and able to withstand many hardships so that even though her life was almost unbearable, Mary comes out smelling like a rose. I am sure "Mary Baker and the Eye of the Tiger" is a great book for children, preteens, young adults and even adults.
