Marketing Your Book Using the Internet by Cheri Powell is a must-have reference tool. Anyone thinking of publishing a book, or who wants to market a book that they have already published, needs to read this book. It's easy to see that Cheri Powell has put a lot of thought, effort and research into Marketing Your Book Using the Internet. Each chapter covers a separate step that the reader should take in order to market their book successfully. Cheri's advice is easy to follow and well written, starting with how to get your book higher rankings on Amazon to preparing press releases, selling your book on eBay, and everything in between. I found the "Points to Remember" sections at the end of each chapter particularly helpful as a sort of Cliff's Notes to what I had read. The "Action Items" list after each chapter is also a great idea. I have to confess that I copied each action item list, and keep them in a folder to use again and again. As Cheri says, "Don’t just read this book. Put it into action."
It's been my experience that writing the book is the easy part; marketing it takes a lot of work. Reading Marketing Your Book Using the Internet will not only take the mystery out of the marketing process, it will make it a lot easier. I know that it taught me a few things. Having self-published and marketed several books myself, I found Cheri Powell's instructions and advice in Marketing Your Book Using the Internet to be spot on. What I thought was the most helpful were the links to web sites that the reader can access to advertise their book, obtain assistance, or even get a free book review. Cheri not only explains what each site can do to help you market your book, she also tells you if there is a cost to use their services.
There are a lot of books out there that claim to help you market your book, and many of them are free. What sets Marketing Your Book Using the Internet apart is that Cheri is not trying to sell you a service on every other page. Neither is she making the process seem so daunting that the reader feels they have no choice but to pay someone to do it for them. As a writer and publisher, my advice is to read Marketing Your Book Using the Internet, follow Cheri Powell's instructions to market it, and then write another book.
