Mariasha and the Great Book (A Young Princess’s Quest and the Tongue Twisters that Saved Her) is written by Cary Knor. Nanny Nanny Boo Boos invade the Land of Darling and abduct the King and Queen. Land of Darling no longer flourishes and its people believe ten-year-old Mariasha can restore normalcy by rescuing her parents. The only way to do this is to go to the Land of Golly and retrieve their Great Book so the Nanny Nanny Boo Boos will be defeated. Mariasha is scared, but bravely begins her trip. She encounters the enormous Great Black Bug who wants to gobble her up, but the princess challenges him to a tongue twister contest. If she wins, then she is free to continue her journey, but if the mean creature wins, Mariasha will be his supper. However, a strange thing occurs when the contest begins.
A purple talking turtle, a magical Mirror Pool and a gang of smart-mouthed, leather-clad rebel sheep are a few of the odd characters who will keep you entertained in Mariasha and the Great Book (A Young Princess’s Quest and the Tongue Twisters that Saved Her.) Cary Knor has an offbeat sense of humour and uses it remarkably well. The writing is extremely witty and it’s apparent that the author knows how to spin a good yarn. This is evident in the tongue twister conversations that the princess has with other characters, as well as in the descriptions pertaining to this amusing story that children will love reading.
