Manning a Raptor by A. A. Freda continues the story of Sam and James Coppi as they finally live a successful life, but that comes under threat with something unexpected. Set in 1981, Sam is pregnant once again and the Coppis cannot be happier. Now that they have the wealth and the space, the couple is ready for a peaceful life. Trying to buy a railroad seems like a good option, but not when it starts to backfire. All is well until it isn’t, and suddenly, there is a target on James’s head; their international business is under threat, and the authorities are after them. The problems come at them from all sides and it looks like there is nothing they can do. But they cannot sit back and let chaos happen around them. Can Sam and James fight this and protect their family?
James and Sam have a special place in my heart. The couple has grown a lot and it shows in Manning a Raptor. Their communication is a lot better; they understand each other at a deeper level and they have truly grown up. I loved that they are grateful for their riches and good life. As expected, the suspense and action in the story are fantastic. Author A. A. Freda knows how to carry the story. He makes it rise and fall almost like a symphony; the narrative follows its rhythm, which makes the story interesting. I loved the push and pull between James and Sam, where one wanted more and the other wanted to live in the moment. The author makes sure the reader gets just the right dose of intensity, family drama, action, and suspense to keep them hooked for hours!
