Making Waves: Lake House Love by DK Marie follows Lilith Brookes, an exhausted woman battling to get a divorce from her scum of a husband. Deciding to get away from the toxicity, Lilith takes their daughter off to the family lake house. After a rather awkward encounter, Lilith becomes familiar with Asher Crowley, a single father, and their new neighbor. The two slowly find themselves drawn to one another but, considering the baggage they both, carry things may not be as easy as falling in love by the lake house. Can the two overcome their respective traumas and find a way to be together or will the harsh realities of life come crashing down?
I absolutely loved Making Waves by DK Marie! This story was so heart-warming and real and full of emotion that I couldn’t put the book down. I found myself on a rollercoaster of emotion from being enraged at Lilith’s husband to laughing myself sick at their first encounter at the lake house and finally to the slow-burning hope that the two would fall in love and find happiness. Books like this one are the reason I will always consider myself a hopeless romantic, no matter what, and DK Marie surely knows how to win the heart of a romance lover. The writing, the plot, and the characters were all amazing, down to the adorable friendship between Chloe and Raven. But the thing I loved the most was that this story was about such real-life issues that it made this already amazing book even better and more impactful. Making Waves is definitely worth the read!
