Ron Chandler's Madcap Dogs: Revealing Their True Glory features fourteen short stories that demonstrate the different roles of dogs and how they impact the lives of their human companions. A greyhound must find help to save a bickering couple from drowning. A teenager teaches a man a lesson on training dogs during a dog agility contest. A father and a son venture into the countryside to hunt geese, only to see their hound reluctant to go for the kill. A divorce attorney's wife inadvertently invites his boss to their home for a cookout, but the family dogs soon take over the party. A rescued race dog develops a crush on a cute labradoodle. A grandfather and his grandson help a group of kids manage their unruly dogs. A brave Dalmatian risks her own life to help firefighters rescue people and their beloved pets.
Ron Chandler offers readers and dog lovers a collection of stories that fascinate, inspire, and entertain in equal measure and, by the end, leave you with a sense of genuine affection for dogs and their ability to change lives. Madcap Dogs is heartwarming, bittersweet, and hilarious. These stories will tug at your heartstrings in many ways as you follow different adventures and storylines featuring dogs as central characters in the narrative. I enjoyed every single one of them, but the stories involving Freebie and Sarah were my absolute favorites from this collection. This is a gem of a book for short story readers. If you have a soft spot for dogs or other furry pets, do not miss this one!
