Luz del Mes is divided into three main parts. First, it has a very comprehensive poetry section, which includes haiku, couplets, and free verse. This part is dedicated to the environment and is mainly narrated from the point of view of nature, which creates a strong feeling of awareness. The second section consists of short but pleasant stories in rhyming form. The third part is a compilation of short stories which reaffirm moral values, written in prose and merging with the environmental theme, which brings the book to a wonderful conclusion. Maritza Martínez Mejia adds a small glossary that will help readers to understand the characteristics of some types of poetry more clearly. All of the content is bilingual, so this book is also suitable for learning a lot of practical vocabulary in Spanish.
The theme of nature is inspiring because Maritza Martínez Mejia expresses herself harmoniously, but also with seriousness. Her sincerity is admirable because the issues are addressed both poetically and with realism, showing the truth behind the current situation. Luz del Mes is an unusual book because it is a compendium of poetic styles. The author is not limited to a single style or a single theme and she brings variety to her work, but always with the same objective. That's why I think this book stands out from others, because of the detailed work that reaffirms the love of nature that we should all embrace. In addition, varied themes are also used, such as family union, but all within the same context.
