Lovely Oblivion: Maggie, the latest installment in a series by A.D. Craig, centers on the band’s keyboardist Maggie and tattoo artist Wylder. The two met when Wylder did group tattoos on the band and they reconnected a few years later. Maggie and Wylder couldn’t seem to place each other until things finally clicked and they became inseparable, from sleepovers to family dinners. Maggie was able to experience some type of normalcy and Wylder got a taste of the rockstar life. With a few slice-of-life moments as well as appearances by our favorite girls, this book is sure to be a whirlwind.
Words cannot describe how much I love the female characters A.D. Craig has created! Each of them is strong individually, and with each installment of the Lovely Oblivion series, we get to know the members of the band personally. Lovely Oblivion: Maggie touches on familiar themes and is a very quick read. Although the plot was well thought out, on a personal note, I couldn’t help but feel that Maggie and Wylder’s story was a tad rushed. It seemed as if there wasn’t enough time for each character to process events, and this almost made Maggie appear to be a pushover. Maggie is probably the sweetest of the Lovely Oblivion girls. She deserves the world and Wylder could have been more caring. Aside from that, I thoroughly enjoyed being wrapped up in the Lovely Oblivion world and am patiently waiting for Lyra’s turn!
