Lovely Oblivion: Bex is A.D. Craig’s second novel in the Lovely Oblivion Series, which focuses on the story of the band’s lead singer and her high school sweetheart who went their separate ways once they started college. After receiving an invitation to her 10-year high school reunion, Bex makes a deal with herself that should she see Aiden again, she’ll give their relationship another shot. We were given snippets of the rest of the gang as they add Aiden to their touring circuit. Lovely Oblivion: Bex tells the story of a female punk rocker who will go to the ends of the world to be with her one true love.
A.D. Craig’s writing in Lovely Oblivion: Bex once again has a sense of realism and shows us how open communication can lead to a healthy relationship. It’s quite rare to see this in romance novels; usually, it’s the drama that spurs a break-up or some miscommunication between the main characters. And while there is a bit of drama, it’s the good kind that only makes us fall more in love with Aiden and Bex. There was an instance at the beginning of the book where I was confused for a second as Bex was dreaming, but other than that the overall plot was well executed and we were given a semi-wholesome story of two high school sweethearts who find themselves back with each other. This book brought up topics of love, sacrifice, and loss. This also makes you think of the potential what-ifs, which only made their story even more beautiful.
