Love, On On is a romantic non-fiction short story collection written by Met Clark. When the middle-aged author met Konnie, he had put his military action and adventure hat away and was just living life. This little Geo-Mouse shook all that right out of his life. Konnie lives for running and adventure, and, before he knew it, the author was there at her side, or quite often, chasing along after her and trying to catch up. This series of stories chronicles some of their adventures and the new challenges and friends they've encountered along the way. There’s the Savage Race in Georgia, where the race begins with slogging through a pond filled with ice and continues through a field of electrically charged wires. They also love to find geo-caches and run madly through city streets and railroad embankments seeking the tiny metal boxes and tubes to add their names to the list. When Hurricane Sandy hit, the author and Konnie were there, helping the firemen and EMT personnel in a mountainous area in West Virginia.
Met Clark’s non-fiction short story collection, Love, On On, is madly comical and deliriously lovely all at once. I had a ball following the mouse and the silverback as they found yet another trail to follow and yet another sport to master, and a very large part of me wished that I was there along for the ride. There’s not a lot of overt romantic language or wishy-washy flowery prose, but Love, On On is still, somehow, one of the most romantic and loving pieces of writing I’ve come across. Clark’s writing is direct and fluid and it rushes the reader down slippery trails and up steep climbs along with the author and his mouse. There’s her brightly colored sneakers up ahead, just past that bush, go on, you can make it up there if you push just a little bit harder. So much enthusiasm and joie de vivre, and a marvelous guide to the impressive array of sports and athletic activities available today. Love, On On is remarkable and compelling, and a singularly, unapologetically quirky and sentimental look at love. It’s most highly recommended.
