Lost in the Quagmire: The Quest for the Grail (Merlin Mystery) by Jay Ruud is the story of Merlin and Gildas as they try to find out why all of the best knights in the kingdom are suddenly dying. When Sir Galahad arrives in Camelot with his own vision of the Holy Grail, things are changing at a rapid pace. Knights are dying left, right and center. A mysterious White Knight has killed two of the most skilled knights while others are being injured or murdered by their fellows. Amidst all this, Merlin and Gildas believe that there is something far more sinister that is attacking all the knights in King Arthur’s court. With these suspicions, Gildas and Merlin are now investigating the issue and trying to find out why all the best knights of the king are being murdered and who is behind this. There is a lot at stake yet not enough time. What are these two going to do?
Lost in the Quagmire is an intense novel that takes a new look at the life of Merlin and his adventures. I love reading novels about Merlin and this is one of the best that I have come across in years. The author did a wonderful job of creating a believable scenario that could happen. The mystery and action came to life in the story; the author ensured that the reader got to experience everything with the characters and enjoy it all. I wanted to know more about Merlin, his struggles to find the answer and trying to solve the mystery. This is a wonderful novel and I hope that the author has more to share with us about Merlin. Very impressive!
