Little Lambs' Christmas by Carol Movrich Gedde is a beautiful depiction of the Christmas season explained to the lambs by a crow and a Shepherd. The story is simple and captures the essence of the spirit and joy of the Christmas season. The little lambs learn about the Christmas tradition from an old crow up in a tree. The meaning of Christmas and the message of giving and sharing is explained to the lambs by the Shepherd.
The book can be used an introductory story for small children who do not know what Christmas is all about. It is explained very clearly so that children get an idea about the festive season, the seasonal changes in December, and the festival. The explanations are in verses under each illustration, making it attractive to any young reader. The verses are simple and easy to understand. The illustrations are similar to those done by kids. That adds to the charm of this children's book. The Shepherd patiently answering the questions about Christmas to the lamb is very charming. It is so beautifully explained that by the time a child finishes reading the book, all the doubts surrounding Christmas would have been cleared up.
The tradition of giving gifts, the three Wise Men, the cheer, peace and goodwill associated with Christmas, the angels, and everything that surrounds the festival makes the book an interesting one to own. It makes a good bedtime story and a lovely book for reading aloud, especially during the Christmas season.
