Lily and Lucy by Ed Ehlers is the perfect story for children to read along with their parents. We follow Max and Tucker, two Australian Shepherd dogs, as they go for a walk into the wooded forest with their ‘Daddy’. This is not just every other walk they have been on, because today they have a mission to accomplish. They must rescue two little puppies who have been callously discarded by a wicked human, and there is a race against time to make sure the puppies are safe and new homes are found for them. This is a true tale of love and compassion for our furry friends and proceeds from the book go to the Lost Dog & Cat Rescue Foundation
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this charming children's book because it is filled with life lessons, important for children to learn. Throughout the story, we learn the importance of caring for our furry friends and understanding that they have feelings too. The illustrations are perfect for the story and exquisitely drawn. The characters of the dogs are brought to life and are exactly how I hope dogs would feel about their owners. The story is full of suspense as they try to locate the lost puppies and I can see children getting really enthralled in the book, wondering how the story will end. Parents will really enjoy the message behind the story and it conveys a kind and considerate message to little ones.
