Lil' Boy's Enchanted Red Hat: Coloring and Activity Book by Dr. April L. Jones Ph.D. is about inspiration, fun and cognitive thinking. Children will enjoy going through the pages of this coloring and activity book as they learn about the life of Commissioner Mose Jones, Jr. Who is Commissioner Jones? He is a part of District 1, Lawrence County, Alabama, and was instrumental in participating in the Civil Rights Movement of Alabama and the Bloody Sunday March. Commissioner Jones was a young boy from humble beginnings where he is now making a difference as the District 1 Commissioner. He is responsible for building a new park and there is even a bridge named after him, Mose Jones, Jr. Bridge. This book will allow children to test their skills, walk through a maze, learn the order of operations, connect the dots, color beautiful drawings and a number of other fun things. This book is a great complement to A Not So Easy Road, a children’s story book also by his daughter, the author, that explores the life of Mose Jones, Jr as a child. Children will be inspired and have fun as they experience the connection between Mose Jones, Jr, and his enchanted red hat.
Every child needs to read a story that gives them hope, a chance to dream and to see someone like themselves. This is that type of book on so many levels; from seeing Mose Jones, Jr at home, school and church to how his enchanted red hat helped him to dream and believe big. As a child, Mose Jones, Jr made a promise because he wanted to make a difference, he wanted to see the lives of others become better. As children read about Mose Jones, Jr's accomplishments, while having fun, they will also be able to learn that dreams can come true and maybe with a little enchanted red hat of their own it can occur faster. One caveat that I loved was that, as an activity in the book to help jump-start your child’s dream, was that your child is asked to draw their favorite activity wearing their favorite clothes.
