If you are a Christian, there is a good chance that you have suffered hurt at the hands of the church, church leaders, or church members. Dr. Shon Shree Lewis wrote Liberated from Church Hurt to help you overcome the pain and disappointment of being hurt by the institution and people you should be able to trust completely, enjoy a secure relationship with, and be built up in your faith and life. Since the church is made up of people and God tells us that people are prone to do wrong, hurt will come. What you do with that hurt is largely up to you and your responses to being wronged. Shon emphasizes forgiveness and how God says to handle hurt in Matthew 18. Following her guidelines will help you move past the hurt and into the abundant life God promises those who follow His will. When we follow God’s design, we live in the peace that passes all understanding.
Dr. Shon Shree Lewis has been hurt before and shares her experience of overcoming the weight of pain caused by the church in Liberated from Church Hurt. Her writing is straightforward and gets to the heart of the matter. Shon is a minister, prophetess, and spiritual adviser. She shares spiritual wisdom based solidly on the Word of God for overcoming hurt. Everyone needs to find a godly minister—either pastor or lay helper—who will come alongside them to comfort and guide them into biblical living. This person will be a major component in assisting in healing from hurt. This book will guide you to finding a godly pastor and church and overcoming depression and hurt, leading to a life filled with the joy found only in living according to God’s Word. I recommend this book to everyone because everyone has suffered hurt.
