Dangers to the environment are ever present and the new Save Blue Water team of Dolphin Shore Shifters, Betty and Conley, are in place to act on the call from another whistle blower in Lethal Tide, the fourth volume of the Dolphin Shore Shifters series by C.J. Matthew. Initially put off by each other’s style of doing things, Betty and Conley quickly find that working together gets better results – and helps save their lives. Falling into a case involving someone with whom he had contact during his previous rotation on the field ops team, Conley is surprised to learn that she is now at the head of the crisis that this new team is trying to prevent. It takes all of the shifters’ skills to stay ahead of the threat, especially since they can’t depend on the information coming from the inside man who has reported the danger. Are they really going to save the ocean or are they all walking into a trap designed to destroy the SBW organization?
For complicated intrigue, nail-biting excitement and a healthy dose of romance, Lethal Tide is well worth the read. Even as Volume 4 of the Dolphin Shore Shifters series, it stands alone perfectly so that you can concentrate on and enjoy all the action without feeling as though you are missing anything. Although I have read the first three volumes, I found this book easy to follow on its own. The action is great, the characters relate well and the romance is just right. The potential environmental catastrophe is motive enough to keep your interest, but the clever background created by C.J. Matthew really adds some interesting surprises. These modern-day shape shifting super heroes provide plenty of action, daring deeds, and just the right amount of romance for a story you will be sure to love.
