If you are either religious or spiritual, you may have heard the word ‘Lent’ and may have practiced it at some point in your life within your church. Lent is a sacrificial practice of abstaining from food or certain foods over a forty-day period which usually ends around Easter Sunday. The purpose of Lent is for self-denial in order to gain more intimacy with God or a higher power. The less food that is in your system during this time, the more enlightened you will feel and you will have the ability to reflect more inwardly.
I am currently on a forty-day fast with my church until Easter Sunday and have done several types of fasts throughout my life.
