Meet Leia, a fun girl who lives in the clouds and her friend, Theo, in the story Leia and Theo Play Hide and Seek by Daniel Egger. Leia liked to play hide and seek in the many white and grey clouds and her friend Theo tried to find her. Both Leia and Theo had special talents. Leia was lightning fast and Theo could shove the clouds back and forth. Leia knew how to hide well but at times Theo could hear her giggle, and he pushed a wet cloud towards the noise. Theo loved dark clouds the best. Leia and Theo loved this fun game and they stopped only when there were no clouds and Leia couldn't hide anymore. They both wait for the next set of dark clouds to play hide and seek again.
Set against the backdrop of the sky and clouds, this story is whimsical and will make readers enchanted and happy. The illustrations are as magical as the story and make the characters, scenes, and their hide and seek vivid to young readers. The author also makes thunderstorms less scary and more interesting by mentioning how the clouds bump and collide again and again, and make different sounds. It is also an innocent story of two kids trying to play hide and seek and having fun with each other. It is a good bedtime storytelling book and can also be used by tutors in classrooms for storytelling sessions and reading aloud. It is a good way for parents and tutors to help children get rid of their fear of thunderstorms.
