Larry, Bush Pilot (Flying Acres Book 1) is written by Jordan and Lawrence Mierek. Drawing pictures of an airplane is nowhere near as much fun as actually flying it. Larry has a natural love of the winged flying contraptions that his father teaches him how to fly, just like he had taught his older brother Steve. Even though they live on a farm, Larry would much rather be in the plane than milking cows, feeding chickens, or any other chore that comes with living on a farm. Larry’s father has a brother, Uncle Valenty, who passes away after being sick for some time. Valenty left an old war chest for Larry at the family’s cabin in the Adirondacks in New York. An accident leaves Larry with a serious problem that only true courage and bravery will help him get through. Why would Uncle Valenty leave a war chest for Larry? Will Larry keep his love of flying after losing his uncle? Will Larry ever be able to fly on his own?
Larry, Bush Pilot (Flying Acres Book 1) by Jordan and Lawrence Mierek is a wonderful story with quite an adventurous plot. With the family running a farm, and Larry learning to fly a plane, what more could a young boy dream of? I love how family-oriented and personal this story is. The in-depth background relationships the characters share are peaceful, exciting, and fun-loving, allowing the reader to develop a connection with each person in the story. I love how the story seems to have an underlying message about how important it is to remain calm in a dangerous situation and to always believe in yourself. Larry, Bush Pilot is definitely suited for young children and young adults. I recommend this story to anyone who enjoys adventure of any kind and I can’t wait for the next story in the series!
