If you're a fan of Harry Potter or movies like Sky High, get yourself a copy of Robert G. Culp's Knight School. Jason Gardner is an exemplary student studying at the magical school known as Knight School. Taught by former Legend operative Kirk Louis, Jason and his friends Barry, Julie, and Nara call themselves the Mystic Brats. Nara is the Princess of the kingdom of Aria who acquires admission into Knight Academy after Jason and Julie save her from the clutches of the Order, a terrorist group of mystical knights. But a nefarious faction is working to manipulate Nara's powers, and events take a darker turn when the Soldier of Osiris stabs Jason with his cursed sword, infecting his heart.
Filled with magic and wonder, Robert G. Culp's Knight Academy is an entertaining adventure tale of a group of teenagers as they navigate friendship, romance, and magical studies while trying to save the world. The characters are colorful and compelling, and the relationship dynamic between Jason, Julie, Nara, and Barry forms the base of the narrative. The plot moves at a brisk pace, and author Robert G. Culp wastes no time in grabbing the attention of the reader by opening with a couple of expository scenes that help ease the reader into the world. I found the action scenes to be quite cinematic and enjoyed them immensely. I honestly couldn't have predicted some of the twists that occur in the later stages of the book and found myself pleasantly surprised. I think Knight School is a promising start to a new series and recommend it to young adult fans of fantasy.
