Kitty And Kat: BatButts: Kitty and Kat Adventure Series, Book 3 is an animal adventure storybook for children written by Robert Beals III and illustrated by Blueberry Illustrations. It had been thirteen days since Kitty and Kat, and their dog friends, Hound and Dog, had had their last adventure. Kitty and Kat wondered why their dog friends hadn’t been by to play with them for so long. Dog explained that the log they were sitting on made strange sounds and, at night, weird birds with strange wings would fly out and make noises. Hound and Dog had simply been too scared to move. Now that Kitty and Kat were there, the four friends decided to investigate the scratching noises in the log. As they began to examine the log, Hound and Dog noticed two oval covers on it that they hadn’t seen before. Then, the four of them noticed an entrance had been carved into one end of the log. Investigating the insides of the log presented the perfect puzzle to figure out for their next adventure.

Robert Beals III’s Kitty And Kat follows the four friends as they explore the cavern-like interior of the dogs’ favorite log. I loved getting acquainted with Bartholomew BatButt, the giant bat they meet inside the log and enjoyed hearing about the young batButts who neither brushed their teeth nor refrained from eating lots of sweets and ended up having to live on fireflies after losing their teeth. Beals’ cautionary tale about moderation in the consumption of sweets is delivered in a pain-free and fun story about the adventuring cats and dogs. Blueberry Illustrations’ artwork makes the author’s story come to life. Each panel is richly colored and filled with details that had me pausing and appreciating every flower, butterfly, and firefly-eating BatButt. What adventure will Kitty and Kat and Hound and Dog go on next? Young readers will enjoy this humorous and entertaining series. Kitty And Kat: BatButts: Kitty and Kat Adventure Series, Book 3 is most highly recommended.

Kitty and Cat go to visit Hound and Dog on the log where they have been sitting for the past thirteen days. They knew it had been thirteen days because that’s how many times the sun came up and went down. The dogs were waiting for the cats to return and were scared to leave the log because of the noises out there at night. Kitty and Kat tell the dogs they can get off the log, and they will help them figure out the scratching noise that has been scaring them. When they go around to inspect the log, they notice an entrance that wasn’t there before and a set of stairs leading downward. Deciding they weren’t scared, the four go down the stairs and end up in a strange cave of a sort. When they reach the end, they meet a black creature with large wings. He tells them his name is Bartholomew BatButt and it puts the group at ease because he’s a nice bat.

I thought that Kitty And Kat: BattButts by Robert Beals III was an adorable and imaginative read that kids would really find likable. It’s such a wacky and fun story that it easily gains young readers' attention. I also like how there’s an underlying message to brush your teeth to keep them healthy. The illustrations are also wonderfully done and fit in with the story perfectly. Robert Beals has really created such a wonderful world with interesting characters that children will enjoy. Kitty And Kat: BattButts is definitely a book I would purchase and recommend.

Kitty and Kat’s new adventure began when they found their friends Hound and Dog sitting on a log. They soon learn the dogs had been sitting there for thirteen days because they were too scared to move. There are scratching noises in the log all the time. Every night, large squeaking birds with funny wings come out and make loud noises. The four animals walked to the end of the log and saw an entrance that was not there previously. After some discussion, they went down the stairs. In the children’s book, Kitty and Kat: Batbutts, written by Robert Beals III, the four animals embark on an exciting adventure. They meet friendly Bartholomew BatButt and learn what happens to little BatButts who do not listen to their mothers and fathers.

This book is the third in a series featuring Kitty and Kat. The plot would be interesting for young children who are learning about different animals. It also imparts important lessons about what may happen when children do not listen to their parents, eat too many sweets, and do not brush their teeth. This book is ideal for parents who want to read to their children and discuss the lessons within it. The illustrations by Blueberry Illustrations are delightful and will capture the imaginations of young children. Another fun feature is the use of synonyms, such as “fry day” for Friday, and “bee holder” for beholder. Author Robert Beals III has written a charming book that will captivate young children (and parents too) in Kitty and Kat: Batbutts.
