King's Daughter by Lauren Lee Merewether is part of the Lost Pharaoh Chronicles Complement Collection. Nefertiti’s daughter, Nefe, is on the run from her home after her mother was betrayed and murdered. Her sister has abandoned her and she needs to get away from a madman who wants the throne and will stop at nothing to get it. She flees with Nefertiti’s steward, General Paaten, and a man called Atinuk into the unknown. Nefe needs to trust the people she is with but they all have secrets they keep from one another. Can she pick up the pieces and start again in Canaan as a refugee? And will her companions prove to be faithful to her?
King’s Daughter by Lauren Lee Merewether was a fascinating historical read, a kind of coming of age story set in ancient Egypt. It is a complex story, with a deep plot and some interesting characters. An action-packed story, this is all about survival against all odds. The main characters were exceptionally well-developed and the story was paced and flowed smoothly. The tale is told in easy to understand language, making it simple to keep up with. If you love historical novels, you will love this one. The author demonstrates a clear passion for this period, with plenty of historical detail that brought the story to life. With such descriptive prose, it wasn’t hard to fall into this story and be transported to the heat and sands of the Egyptian desert. Wonderful story, I really enjoyed it.
