Zay loved his rock more than he loved playing in the water. He loved lying on it, twisting and turning on it, and stretching on it. Abby also wanted to sit on the rock but Zay barked every time she climbed on the rock. She tried swimming to the other side of the rock and checked if Zay was sleeping. Whichever side of the rock she tried to climb, Zay saw her and barked at her, not letting her climb onto the rock. Abby was sad that Zay would not share. She thought of a plan. She jumped onto the rock again and pulled Zay into the water. The two seals had fun playing together. They jumped together onto a big rock and enjoyed sunbathing together.
King of the Rock (A Zoopals Adventure) by Kirsten Wheelock is an adorable story about sharing and friendship and gives readers information about seals. Mehwish Umber's illustrations breathe life into the characters and give the story a good pace and movement. The illustrations are colorful and bright, and they give clarity to the concept and the messages in an entertaining way. It is a good bedtime storybook that will help parents teach their kids to share and also give them details about seals without making it boring. Tutors can also use the story for read-aloud sessions in classrooms and school libraries, not only for kids to learn about seals but also to teach them life lessons through the story of Abby and Zay.
