In Justice in the Desert: A Vacation of Violence by Jimmy Ray Conner, Kate and Chris Taylor’s planned vacation turned into pure hell. Evie could not join Kate and so asked Debra's daughter Melody if she would like to go shopping with Kate. Former undercover agent Kent noticed Kate and Melody following a woman down an alley, but only the woman returned. Kate and Melody had been abducted by the Sinaloa cartel. Chris was devastated by his wife and Steve’s teenage daughter being in the hands of one of the most deadly criminal groups. Former Green Beret Steve was determined to find Melody no matter what, and Kent was confident that his years of experience working as an undercover agent against the Sinaloa Cartel would enable him to assist in the two women's rescue.
Jimmy Ray Conner's Justice in the Desert had an intricate and captivating plot. It was action-packed from the start, and it never let go throughout. I was hooked from the first page and could not put it down until the very end. This book had me on the edge of my seat, turning the pages as fast as I could. There were so many twists and turns, and I never knew what would happen next. I was guessing all the way. The characters were realistic and could have been anyone I know. Because of their diverse backgrounds and skill sets, Chris, Steve, and Kent worked well together as a team. This thriller was well-written and far exceeded my expectations. The conclusion was fitting after everything that had occurred.
