Susan Marie Murdoch is an award winning author & Illustrator. She grew up on the seacoast of Maine, and currently resides in Strafford, NH. Her son Tim, and daughter Jacquelyn, have been her foundation through the years and they are her biggest supporters.
As well as being a disabled veteran of the United States Army, Susan has enjoyed spending over a decade as a Licensed Nursing Assistant in New Hampshire and continues to devote her time as a caregiver to the elderly in the surrounding communities of New Hampshire.
Susan has been drawing since early childhood, but writing came later in life.
"Growing up, my passion had always been painting and drawing. It was later in life after experiencing some traumatic events while serving in the Unite States Army as a military police officer, did I learn that writing was a therapeutic tool to express myself. I try to incorporate personal experiences and emotions into my stories in hopes the messages will ring true with the reader."
Her latest book, Iwogs Adventures in Bully Blues, is an enlightening story that brings an awareness of an important issue in today's society, bullying. Children can relate to and read about how the Iwogs battle against Snip and Snap, the turtle brothers and learn that with kindness and forgiveness, anything is possible.
Ms. Murdochs first children book, Plaid Frogs, Blue Toads & Pink Pollywogs, was designed to help kids with cancer or any childhood disease in search of a cure, be able to discuss their emotions with a parent, teacher or healthcare provider. A portion of the proceeds of Plaid Frogs Blue Toad & Pink Pollywogs, goes to the American Cancer Society.

Iwogs Adventures in Bully Blues by Susan Marie Murdoch is a story that speaks about the relevant topic of bullying and makes young readers more aware of the issue. The Iwogs live within the roots of the great cypress tree, deep beneath Sweetwater pond. Corky goes in search of his friends, Jazz, Tripod and Biz. Corky senses that something is just not right with Biz. Corky understands that Biz is scared of Snip and Snap, who are bullies. They decide to do something to resolve the issue and go in search of the other Iwogs to discuss the problem of bullying by the turtle brothers. Will they be able to find a solution to the problem, and will they be able to stop Snip and Snap from bullying them?
The story, apart from speaking about bullying, also teaches readers the values of kindness, patience, and forgiveness. Readers are inspired to learn from the behavior of the Iwogs. The illustrations complement the story and breathe life into the characters and the scenes, giving the book a good pace. The story is excellent material for bedtime storytelling, and it is also suitable for read aloud sessions in classrooms and school libraries.
The concept and the message in the story are beneficial for young readers. Books that convey a concept, moral or a good message are perfect to introduce to kids when they start reading as it helps them understand things in a better way. The author's views are insightful and the book is a must-read for all kids.
