34 year old Cat Connelly is a single accountant living in Manhattan. She lives her life by the rules safe and simple. When her younger sisters get married she begins questioning her life. Is she boring? Has she spent too much time living by the rules, being safe? An old flame invites her to spend a month in Rome, Italy. She decides to go for it only the reunion with the dashing debonair Francesco did not turn out as expected and now she finds herself alone in Rome. She knows her mother has family in Italy. She doesn’t know any of them and she hasn’t spoken to any of them since her mother’s death two years earlier. Can she get up the courage to spend the rest of the month in Rome or turn tail and hard back to her dull life in Manhattan?

The last time Cat had been in Rome was thirteen years earlier as an exchange student and now she is re-discovering the sights sounds and smells of Italy while all along dodging the hot blooded Italian Gigolo’s. Making peace with her past and her self- discovery you will see a touch of romance. But the main theme of the story is of Cat finding herself and learning more about her mother.

I enjoyed reading this book. Ms. Harmel seemed to have captured the sights and sounds of Italy. I may have to add it to my travel list. This is one of those books you want to take to the beach, sit under your large umbrella and enjoy a good read. There are even recipes in back. This is Chick Lit at its finest.
