Is Love Necessary: The Magnificent Power of Love by Antwon J. Blakeney begins with the young days of his parents, how his father met his mother in a nightclub, got infatuated, married, enlisted, and was stationed in Germany and moved to New Orleans. His father, failing in a drug test, brought an end to his military career, his family was forced to experience the harshness of life. Hard times confront the family, both from the side of income and from the extra marital affairs of his father. Antwon’s experiences, in school and outside, with his girlfriends, finding a job for himself and other more exciting incidents are covered in this book.
I found it difficult to put down Is Love Necessary: The Magnificent Power of Love by Antwon J. Blakeney. Every character and every incident narrated in this autobiographic page turner is capable of shaking one emotionally, both by its nature and by its intensity. This will have an appeal, more so for people like me who have been lucky enough to experience the state of hopelessness. He also gives an evocative message in this book, “Life is a beautiful gift, but since we are born into a world of sin, we easily lose sight of the gift. But if you try your best to walk in the light and hold on to every word that comes from the mouth of God, you will easily avoid a lot of the bad things life brings”. This is a very good read, a touching drama and an inspiring story.
