As a writer, consultant, and community advocate, Debra is living her passion by teaching other women how to live on purpose, build self-esteem, and find the love they truly want and deserve. Debra is also working to improving the lives of underserved children and adults in her Indianapolis community. For the past twelve years she has focused her attention on issues involving poverty, sexual assault, and domestic violence, which in 2009 earned her the prestigious Ada Edwards Laughlin award from Assistance League© of Indianapolis.

Following a failed marriage which ended in divorce, she embarked on a personal journey of self-discovery and renewal that resulted in an all-important “aha!” moment. Is He a Keeper?: Savvy Gal Secrets to Spotting Mr. Wrong and Hooking Mr. Right by Debra Yuska is a book aimed at women who tend to make mistakes when it comes to choosing a partner. This helpful book describes the different reasons why certain women always tend to end up with a certain (wrong) kind of man, what can be done to work with these situations, and what kind of wrong types of men there actually are. Some might be quite obvious, like the one with the addiction problem; others might come as a surprise. The book uses the image of a woman being a fisher who tries to hook the right fish (man, in this case). It also stresses that women should never use themselves as bait - which is a good point as this is what many women do these days (e.g. by masking their own character instead of convincing with their true self).

Is He a Keeper?: Savvy Gal Secrets to Spotting Mr. Wrong and Hooking Mr. Right by Debra Yuska is a very good book if you need help in knowing which kind of man should not be in your life at all. It not only teaches you how to recognize them, but also how to improve your own life so as to not attract these kinds of men that easily in future. I would have liked more information about how to actually find out certain things about the right men, i.e. how can you find out whether they are single, how do you know if they are truly interested in you, etc. There's definitely potential for more chapters (and men say women are hard to understand!). I would recommend this book to all women who ever wondered: "Why did I end up with that guy, and what was actually wrong with him?"
