Into Trouble describes a young adult endeavoring to find his path in life and decided to explore and experience the beauty of Europe. As he made new friends and searched for the love he did not receive from his father, he made beautiful memories and some mistakes that shaped his outlook on life and forced him to grow up quickly. His chaotic relationship with his father and the fact that he did not want to get drafted to fight in the Vietnam War contributed to why he wanted to travel to Europe. Paul Gorman made the final decision when he got an informal invitation from his high school girlfriend - an exchange student from Europe. Paul embarked on his trip, which resulted in heartbreak, bad spending habits, new friends, substance abuse, crime, becoming a prisoner and attracting his country's attention, and more.
I was utterly captivated by Into Trouble, as it included several wild and outrageous events, like facing death while cycling on a lonely, snow-covered road and attempting to defraud an airport. Paul Gorman's memorable, extraordinary experiences showed me how rich and beautiful life could be, especially if you experience different cultures and meet people from different backgrounds. The book features several interesting characters, including a Swedish businessman in his mid-forties, who had a strange agreement with his wife that involved exploring other relationships and not telling each other about it. The book is well-balanced with the right mix of historical information, physical descriptions, and captivating developments. This expertly crafted memoir captures the spirit of youth, adventure, and redemption. It is a must-read for fans of memoirs involving travel and youthfulness.
