Infrared Light Therapy is a concise and informative non-fiction work written by Nancy Gordon Brooks and J. P. Roe. The information in this book explains the basics of infrared light therapy, its effects on the body, pain relief benefits, and the technology involved in its use at home. In addition to providing deep pain relief, this therapy stimulates certain biological processes that are crucial to the repair of damaged cells, body regeneration, and overall wellness. Whereas in the past, infrared therapy was only available at medical centers or aesthetic salons, time-testing and emerging technology have made it safe for at-home usage. The book provides a straightforward guide to using infrared globes and lamps, setting up your at-home sauna, and reaping the health benefits in the comfort of your home.

Roe provide an overview of this form of therapy and a natural approach to treating aches, pains, swellings, and general body discomforts. When you suffer from a double auto-immune disease, as I do, you are always looking for something, besides pills, that will help you with the inflammation and pain. But as co-authors Gordon Brooks and J.P. Roe point out, there is so much “noise” out there created by people selling everything from simple hand-held devices to fitted waist belts to expensive full-body treatment units, that it’s easy to become confused about infrared light therapy. Is it as effective as so many claim? That’s where Brooks and Roe’s short, easy-to-read and understand book, Infrared Light Therapy comes in to answer your questions and put your mind at ease.

In this succinct guide, complete with illustrations and uncomplicated scientific explanations, you will quickly grasp exactly how infrared light therapy works. This eye-opening information explains how the deep penetrating heat from infrared improves blood flow. In turn, that improved blood flow “directly impacts healing and inflammation.” It also enhances lymphatic drainage, hence reducing swelling. So, who can benefit from using infrared lights? Those with arthritis, sciatica, and diabetic neuropathy, just to name a few! There are additional benefits for those considering IR therapy for skin conditions. This marvelous little book, complete with numerous links to articles one can read for further information, an FAQ section, and an excellent guide to how you can create an inexpensive infrared light treatment area in your home, is a must-read before you rush out and spend your hard-earned dollars unnecessarily. Consider this review my endorsement of this treatment method: I know first-hand how well it works!

Who hasn’t heard of red light therapy? I certainly did when my grandmother was battling some serious aches and pains some years ago. I researched a lot and wasn’t really satisfied. I wish I had found Infrared Light Therapy by Nancy Gordon Brooks and J.P. Roe back then. In seven short chapters, these authors explain infrared light therapy, what it is, the technology, how you could use it at home, the safety practices you must follow, and some general much-needed FAQs that will share a wealth of knowledge with readers. The diagrams helped me understand, the external links were helpful, and the glossary at the end was a game-changer for me. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wishes to use infrared light therapy but wants some reassurance before they begin.
