Illusions by J. T. Bishop is a gripping mystery thriller and the eighth installment in the Detectives Daniels and Remalla series. When a series of kidnappings exposes a powerful secret society, Daniels and Remalla find themselves entangled in a dangerous web of deceit. Their investigation becomes even more perilous when a separate murder case implicates someone they both care about. Relying on a troubled clairvoyant artist as their only lead, the detectives must navigate through lies and betrayal to uncover the truth. Bishop excels at creating a tense and immersive atmosphere where mystery lurks at every turn, and this particular volume has a touch of speculative and supernatural intrigue that makes it even more chilling than usual.

It’s been a while since I dived into the Daniels and Remalla story universe, and I’m always delighted to be back with the guarantee of intricate plots laden with clever clues and the well-developed complex heroes I’ve come to adore. J. T. Bishop's ability to build suspense and explore themes of trust and betrayal offers a really rich and complex emotional backdrop to the story, ensuring that readers are captivated and eagerly turning pages as we wait to find out how the converging cases and conflicting clues will finally come together. The central leads carry the story well with clever dialogue that explains key moments naturally and never overdoes the melodrama, keeping us firmly rooted in realistic speech and reactions. Overall, I would not hesitate to recommend Illusions for mystery fans everywhere, and the Detectives Daniels and Remalla series as a must-read collection of exciting and consistently well-penned crime cases.

When protesters against a development firm go missing, Daniels and Remalla are given the case. The leads take them to an art gallery where a clairvoyant artist paints the visions she experiences in dreams. As they struggle to identify the other protesters in her painting, more go missing, and one turns up dead. As the detectives investigate, they find information that links a mysterious organization to the development firm, possibly policemen and higher-ups. Lexi, an investigative journalist, helps them with their investigation into the mysterious organization, and, when she is assaulted, they realize that they are all in danger. Illusions continues where Dominion ended and is the eighth book in the Daniels and Remalla thrillers by J.T. Bishop.

Illusions by J.T. Bishop is a suspense thriller with a smudge of paranormal to make the action a bit more intense. The story is written in an easy-to-read style that makes you forget about time and get lost in the plot. The characters are grounded and relatable and come across as ordinary people doing their best to do what is right, although they make mistakes along the way. The plot is full of twists and surprises, and just when you think that there is one main storyline, the author unfolds the bigger picture, and then all the seemingly loose ends tie together, creating an intricate and extensive subplot that will leave you stunned. The writing is done so well that after this book in the series, I will go back and read them all. Truly, an excellent, clean thriller that will keep you up at night. Well done.

J.T. Bishop’s Illusions is book eight of the electrifying crime series featuring Detectives Daniels and Remalla. It appears that a new case being investigated by Rem and Daniels is connected to an earlier case. Several members of a secret cult and protestors opposing a new development go missing and are murdered. The deaths expose a shadowy underworld that wants to silence the ex-members at all costs. In this case, the detectives have only the visions of a clairvoyant artist who predicts the killings just before they take place as their only clue. A dark web of lies and deceit surrounds them, including their alliances with the police department. A loved one is in danger and everything seems to be tangled with unexpected twists and turns. So who can be trusted?
