If You Have Time is a children's adventure fantasy by Norman Gilliland. Drew, Joy, Jasmine, and her half-sister Lila are middle schoolers. While chasing a mysterious thief who stole an antique pocket watch belonging to Drew's grandfather, the four friends suddenly find themselves traveling through time and space to arrive on the Isle of Caves. They come across the crew of the pirate ship Feldspar, which is in the middle of launching a raid on the town of Fairfield. As Drew and his friends follow the trail of the thief, Hugh Feather, they realize they may be inside one of the stories told by Drew's grandfather. With pirates and a dragon standing in their way, the four youngsters must find a way to get to the watch before the past and the future collapse into oblivion.
Let your imagination run wild with this page-turner. Filled with action, mystery, and intrigue, If You Have Time is a treat for adventure fantasy readers. Author Norman Gilliland moves the plot at a blistering pace, which keeps you on the edge of your seat with unexpected twists and shocking reveals. The narrative is captivating, layered with witty dialogue and humor, and it makes every scene a joy to read. I liked how each of Drew's friends has their own challenges to overcome, and this gives them a sense of agency that makes for some engaging character arcs. This is an adventure story about friendship, teamwork, and overcoming one's fears. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and I highly recommend it to both children and young adult readers.
