In If They Could Talk by Sheri Davies, imagine a world where you knew what animals were thinking because they could actually talk. Dogs might get frustrated on a date when they are seated next to a fire hydrant, or a bird might have a hard time deciding what kind of cracker it wants to munch on. Maybe turkeys like to shop at bath stores, too, and their choice of fragrance could prove to be a slight problem for the season. Or maybe the turkeys would like to have the opportunity to voice their opinion about Thanksgiving. What kind of problem could Christmas lights pose for a snake in the winter? What would a cat order if it had access to a delivery service on a cellphone?
I absolutely adored the variety of cartoons in If They Could Talk by Sheri Davies. Every page presents a new idea of what an animal might think or what they might have to say in a human situation. I love the quick wit and the humor that accompany each cartoon. These are sure to keep readers giggling just as much as I did. The illustrations, also by Davies, deliver the point of each cartoon in a delightful way that kept me turning the pages to see what kind of humor would come next. I recommend this book to anyone who loves to get a good laugh from wholesome comedy. I hope that the author has plenty more of these for another collection of cartoons just as entertaining.
