If She Lives is an excellent psychological thriller written by Erik Therme. Tess Parker’s five-year-old daughter was killed by Brady Becker. Colin, Tess’s brother, recently died of cancer. Torrie, Tess’s sister-in-law, was in a coma after an accident where Tess was the driver. While Tess took care of Levi, Torrie’s child was kidnapped by Brady. Tess knows tragedy better than many. After Tess goes to see a psychologist, she decides that she is now going to move on with her life. Tess thought her past belonged where it should: in the past. However, she is now threatened and has to ask someone for help. Tess and this person are not friends at all but are forced to work together to get rid of the impending danger.

The plot of If She Lives was complicated and suspenseful. Erik Therme is an excellent writer, and I was intrigued from the first page until the end. This story was a page-turner and kept me on the edge of my seat. I never knew what was going to happen next with all the twists and turns. The major twist blew away all my ideas of how the story would end. I did not see it coming, and I was astounded. The characters were brilliantly developed and authentic. They were relatable and could be anyone I know. Tess was my favorite character. She was a strong woman who took back her life after all the tragedy she had faced. If She Lives was excellently written and much more than I expected.
