I Love Grass, a children’s book written and illustrated by Maria Boston, is a book that shares the beauty of grass with the reader. Throughout this book, grass is described in vivid detail and what the author loves about it. Grass changes depending on the time of year, weather conditions and whether it is day or nighttime; each of these differences is described and shared with the reader. Grass can grow in a variety of places; however, the most favorite place is in the author’s backyard as this is where she can most enjoy it. The only time she cannot lie directly on the grass is during winter when snow may cover it, but that does not mean the grass is not there - it is!
Maria Boston has done an incredible job with the creation of her book, I Love Grass. This book really describes and shares details of what one can love about grass – grass, something that is a part of our everyday life and may not really be noticed, but really it is something that can be enjoyed and loved. It plays such an important role in the environment. The illustrations are absolutely amazing as well. After reading the book, I went back through it to just study the illustrations. There are so many textures in the pictures and so much detail; they are definitely my favorite part of this book. I am eager to see what else this author may have written or may write in the future.
