I Like Me And I Love Me: A Book of Self Love Affirmations for Children by Abby Zaitley is an uplifting and encouraging book about self-love, self-liking, and self-acceptance. The main character in the book loves herself when she is perky and quirky. She likes herself when she is messy and she loves herself when she finds success. She is happy to stand tall and is okay with tripping and falling and both times she likes herself. She is happy when she is with friends and she is happy when she is on the go. Whatever she does, she loves and likes herself, and there is nothing she doesn't like about herself. She loves herself unconditionally.
This rhyming story is beautiful and teaches children to be happy with their own selves, no matter what they are doing. Begum Manav brings the concept, the little girl, and the story alive with some beautiful watercolor images that give a good pace and movement to the story. The rhyming words add to the lyrical feel and children will be able to find joy and happiness in everything they do, everything they are, and in everything around them. This is a perfect book to help children accept themselves, love themselves, and like themselves for who they are. The story gives out only positive vibes and can be used for read-aloud and storytelling sessions in classrooms and at home. It is also a good book to introduce children to rhyming words.
