I CAN Be Me by Miriam Laundry is a beautiful story for children with a good message of celebrating one’s individuality and appreciating the fact that being different from others is not a bad thing. Maria comes from a different country, which makes her look different. Her friends make fun of her at school and she slowly withdraw into a shell. As the story progresses and Maria gets to know her classmates better, she realizes that everyone is different and unique in their own way. Her project on the topic ‘Discovery’ revolves around this and she conveys an important lesson to everyone in the class through her project.
