Hugs in the Mail is such a cute story that will have you wanting to read it over and over to your little ones. This well-written story follows Kallie, her brother Kasen, and their Granny on a mission to find a creative way of handling missing each other. Kimberly Davis-Peters does a beautiful job with this endearing story showing the relationship between grandparent and grandchild. I really loved the inspiration behind this story. We all know what it is like to miss someone, and phone conversations don't always satisfy our needs. This lovable book shows the young reader many imaginative ways to show someone you miss that you love them.
Kimberly Davis-Peters's story Hugs in the Mail is simple enough for an early reader to understand and enjoyable for an adult to read. The illustrations by Sayani Mukherjee are so adorable and fit with the storyline. They are colorful and engaging. I adored each picture and found it detailed, from the wallpaper to the dog and the characters. The font chosen for the story works really well with the images and storyline. The story flows seamlessly and shows a real connection between the characters. A best-seller, in my opinion, for picture books! This is a book that is sure to be chosen repeatedly. It would be an excellent book to send to a grandparent or grandchildren that live far apart. I can't wait to add it to my children's bookshelf. I know they will enjoy it as much as I did.
