In How To Potty Train A Unicorn by Hailee Oman, we are introduced to a young girl who is at her wit's end with her pet unicorn. She’s desperately trying to get her to go potty in the toilet but the unicorn refuses and fights her at every turn. The little girl tries treats and presents; buying her cute underwear and even taking her clothes but to no effect. It only made the unicorn's behavior worse and she began to think it was funny peeing and pooping on the floor. The child isn’t sure what to do. She knows that without her unicorn being potty trained, she couldn’t go anywhere with her. After each idea fails, the unicorn's owner loses more and more hope. Will she ever succeed in potty training her unicorn or will she have to deal with this behavior permanently?

I viewed How To Potty Train A Unicorn as such a helpful book for parents. While I don’t have children of my own, I have nieces and nephews that I had a hand in raising. Sometimes it is just so hard to potty train them, or sometimes even when a child has been taught they will regress. Also, I can’t help but feel like this is how it was potty training my dogs. It’s such a unique take on the issue and it shows that however much patience a parent may have, they can also be frustrated. I also loved the illustrations and couldn’t help but laugh at each rainbow-colored poop on the floor as I read. Hailee Oman has done a great job and I can’t wait to read more of her work.
